To effectively use Zwift, an indoor cycling and running training app, you'll need a few key items:
This setup will allow you to fully enjoy the interactive and immersive training experience that Zwift offers, whether you're cycling or running.
Yes, Zwift running is free to use. Unlike Zwift cycling, there is no subscription fee for accessing the running features of the platform.
Zwift running events are scheduled group runs, races, or workouts that take place in the Zwift virtual worlds. You can join these events to connect with other runners, stay motivated, and challenge yourself.
Running on Zwift is a game-changer for treadmill workouts. It transforms a routine exercise into an engaging, interactive experience. With its variety of virtual locations, you can run through digital landscapes like London or the imaginary Watopia, making each run unique and exciting. The platform also offers structured training. Plus, you earn rewards and XP for extra motivation. Zwift Run's immersive environment, combined with comprehensive data tracking, significantly enhances the indoor running experience, making it far from mundane.
However, the best thing about running on Zwift is the community. Joining regular group runs or group workouts is like having your very own online running club where you can meet friends in the virtual world. We encourage, motivate, support and inspire each other. There's often great banter in the chat and even more in the live streams.
No, you don't necessarily need a smart treadmill for Zwift Run. While smart treadmills can connect directly to Zwift, you can also use a regular treadmill. In this case, you'll need a foot pod—a small device that attaches to your shoe to track your running metrics. The foot pod communicates with Zwift to simulate your running in the virtual environment. This setup makes Zwift Run accessible even if you don't have a smart treadmill.
The accuracy of Zwift running depends on the device you're using to track your metrics. Smart treadmills are generally more accurate than footpods, but regular calibration of your footpod or treadmill is essential for reliable data.
Yes, Zwift can automatically sync your runs to platforms like Strava, Garmin Connect, and TrainingPeaks, allowing you to keep all your training data in one place.
Zwift features several immersive virtual worlds, including Watopia, New York, London, and Paris, each with unique routes and terrains. Runners can choose from flat roads, challenging hills, or scenic trails.
Yes, Zwift allows you to join group runs or create your own meetup to run with friends in real-time, no matter where they are in the world.
To get started, download the Zwift app, set up your treadmill and tracking device, and connect them to Zwift via Bluetooth. Then, create an account, customize your avatar, and start exploring the virtual worlds or joining events.
No, Zwift works at any speed. Whether you're walking, jogging, or sprinting, Zwift will adjust your avatar's movement in the virtual world to match your pace.
The Zwift Run Channel broadcasts daily during the week with live streams most evenings and some mornings. You can tune in on YouTube from this link. Do please subscribe to the Zwift Run Channel and join in the live chat too!
This is an almost impossible question to answer! Of course I recommend Noble Pro. Both the E8.0 and the E8i have the same treadmill base and therefore the same basic features such as 12% incline. They are both folding treadmills. The difference main comes in the screen. The E8i has a 10" touchscreen which allows you to watch Netflix or YouTube whilst you run. It also gives you some more control over the treadmill calibration and speed settings so you can go slightly faster on the E8i.
The Elite E10i is an entirely different treadmill. It has a larger running area and a larger more responsive touchscreen with the ability to load millions of apps. It also has Zwift built in. There is also more torque on the belt which means it should maintain its speed more accurately. However, this extra size and functionality comes with a higher price tag.
In the end, they are all great value treadmills. You just have to decide what features you need and what you can live without. If you want a full buyers guide then I've written one of those here. Whichever one you go for you know you'll get a great discount using my code

Yes, you can customize your avatar's appearance in Zwift by selecting different outfits, shoes, and accessories in the Garage. As you level up or complete challenges, you'll unlock additional gear to personalize your look.
If your avatar isn’t moving, it could be due to a connection issue between your device (e.g., footpod or treadmill) and Zwift. Ensure your device is powered on, properly paired via Bluetooth, and calibrated. Check your treadmill or footpod battery levels as well.
To calibrate your footpod, go to the Zwift pairing screen, select your footpod, and follow the on-screen instructions. Calibration usually involves running at a steady speed for a short distance to ensure accuracy.
Zwift running does not currently send incline commands to your treadmill, but you can manually adjust the incline on your treadmill to match the terrain in the virtual world for a more immersive experience.
Yes, Zwift has a variety of structured interval workouts for running. You can select them from the Training section of the app. You can also create custom workouts using Zwift’s workout editor.
Zwift group workouts keep runners at the same pace regardless of their individual speed, using a "rubber-banding" feature. This allows everyone to stay together and enjoy a social training experience while maintaining their own effort level.
You earn XP in Zwift running by covering distance. Every 100 meters earns 10 XP points. Additional points may be earned by completing workouts, group runs, or challenges.
Yes, you can use a curved treadmill with Zwift, but you’ll need a footpod or a compatible speed sensor to track your pace and send data to the app, as most curved treadmills don’t have built-in Bluetooth.
Yes, Zwift running can be used for rehabilitation or recovery. You can set your own pace, choose flat routes, and gradually increase your intensity. Zwift also allows you to track your progress and stay motivated with virtual goals.
Please feel free to message me using the contact form on the home page. I am a Zwift run leader as well as a Noble Pro Ambassador and owner so I have a good knowledge and understanding of all the Zwift game and the Noble Pro treadmills and I am very happy to offer support here I can.
If I don't know the answer to your query I can direct you to someone who will! Zwift has the Zwift Runners Facebook page and Noble Pro has a very active Discord channel and of course they also offer email support.
I carried out some testing of the treadmill belt speed at different speeds and the results are documented here https://noble-pro-discount.com/articles/f/accuracy-of-the-noble-pro-elite-e8i-and-e80
If, once you have your Noble Pro Treadmill, you would like to carry out these tests yourself there are instructions here https://noble-pro-discount.com/articles/f/how-to-calculate-the-speed-of-your-treadmill
